East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State junior McCoy Biagioli was named the Big Ten Conference Men's Golfer of the Week on Thursday afternoon.
Biagioli shared the award with Purdue freshman Andre Zhu.
Michigan State opened the 2025-26 season last weekend with a fourth place finish among 12 teams at the Island Resort Intercollegiate, played at Sage Run Golf Course in Bark River in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The Spartans finished the tournament with a score of 32-under par 832 (282-277-273), the fourth-lowest 54-hole score in program history and the 15-under par 273 in the final round tied for the fifth-lowest 18-hole team score at MSU.
Biagioli led the way, tying for third place at 15-under par 201 (67-69-65) in his first tournament with the Spartans after spending his first two years of college at Ferris State. His score of 201 is tied for the second-lowest 54-hole tournament score in program history and one shot short of tying the school record, set by Drew Hackett in 2022.
Biagioli recorded 52 of 54 holes at or below par for the weekend, highlighted by 17 birdies and his first and third rounds, respectively, were played bogey-free.
Michigan State is back on the course early next week, playing in the Folds of Honor Collegiate at American Dunes Golf Club in Grand Haven, Mich. The three-day, 54-hole tournament runs from Monday, Sept. 8 through Wednesday, Sept. 10.
