Seven Spartans will compete at the Midwest championship event.
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State men's tennis players will travel to Columbus, Ohio, for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships, Thursday-Monday, Oct. 15-19.
The tournament will be hosted by Ohio State, taking place at Ty Tucker Tennis Center and Racquet Club of Columbus.
Fans can follow the Spartans throughout the tournament via "Live Stats" at MSUSpartans.com, Indoor Court Cameras, ITA Draws/Results, and "@MSU_MTennis" on X.
The ITA Regionals serve as a qualifier to the NCAA Individual Championships. The two singles finalists and the doubles champions from each of the 13 regions will earn NCAA bids. The NCAA Individual Championships will be held in Athens, Georgia, Tuesday to Sunday, Nov. 17-22.
The Green and White will be represented by the doubles pairings of senior Taym Alazmeh and junior Danial Rakhmatullayev, senior Lincoln Battle and sophomore Noa Tcherniack, and graduate Esunge Ndumbe and graduate Thomas Nelson in doubles play. All six of those Spartans will also be playing in singles action.
A pair of Spartans reached the quarterfinals last year on the doubles side of the tournament. This year's squad will look to build off of previous success.
After this weekend's action, MSU will turn their focus to the Louisville Invite in Louisville, Kentucky, from Friday to Monday, Oct. 23-25, following the ITA Midwest Regionals.
