MSU Alazmeh to represent Team Syria
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State men's tennis player junior Taym Alazmeh has been selected to represent his home country of Syria in the Davis Cup World Group || Round 1 this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 7-8, at the UL Sport Arena in Limerick, Ireland.
Alazmeh and the No. 72-ranked Team Syria will take on No. 50-ranked Ireland in the first round of competition. The winner between Syria and Ireland will have the opportunity to advance in the competition, hoping to make it to the finals.
This will not be Alazmeh's first appearance at the Davis Cup, as he has been part of multiple ties for Syria, including playing with Team Syria in July, beating Saudia Arabia in the Group III Asia/Oceania final.
Alazmeh currently holds a 9-6 record in the Davis Cup, including five singles victories, consistently contributing points for his national team. In 2024, he reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 719, further solidifying his status as one of Syria's key contributors in Davis Cup competition.
With prior Davis Cup experience and success in both singles and doubles formats, Alazmeh will look to play a key role as Syria takes on Ireland in this weekend's World Group II tie.
