Women’s Golf Posts Strong Finish at Clemson Invitational to Finish in Sixth Place

East Lansing, Mich. – Led by a pair of under-par rounds individually, Michigan State's women's golf team fired a 6-under par 282 in the final round and finished in sixth place among 16 teams at the Clemson Invitational, played on The Reserve on Lake Keowee (Sunset, S.C.).
The Spartans, who were in 15th place after round one and 13th after two rounds, shot a 6-under par 282 on Sunday, tied for the second-lowest team round of the day and the fifth lowest of the entire tournament to move up seven places.
Michigan State finished the three-day, 54-hole tournament at 10-over par 874 (296-296-282).
Florida topped the field at 17-under par 847, with Arkansas second at 16-under par 848, Vanderbilt third at 4-under par 860, Tennessee in fourth at 1-under par 863 and Ohio State in fifth place at 2-over par 866.
Senior Taylor Kehoe led the Spartans, tying for seventh place at 3-under par 213 (72-72-69). She fired a 3-under par 69 in the final round, tied for the fourth-lowest round of her career. Kehoe's tie for seventh place was the second top-10 performance of the year and her sixth among the top-20.
Classmate Paula Balanzategui posted the team's best round of the day, firing a 4-under par 68 on Sunday. She finished in a tie for 21st place at 2-over par 218 (78-72-68). Her score of 68 in the final round is tied for the third-lowest 18-hole score of her career.
Freshman Sarisa Pojanalai is tied for 30th place at 3-over par 147 (72-75) and senior Paula Balanzategui is tied for 56th place at 6-over par 150 (78-72), tying for the team's best round of the day at even-par 72.
Sophomore Grace Vetter had the third-best score of the day at even-par 72 and tied for 62nd place at 11-over par 227 (78-77-72). Senior Shannon Kennedy tied for 72nd place at 13-over par 229 (74-79-76)
Freshman Lucia Valderrama, playing as an individual, tied for 67th place at 12-over par 228 (75-74-79).
Michigan State plays next on Saturday, April 4 in the Carolina Challenge Cup in Raleigh, N.C.
