Spartan Rowing Serves as Host for 2026 B1G Invitational Regatta

Rancho Cordova, Calif. -- Michigan State will serve as the host institution for the 2026 Big Ten Invitational this weekend in Sacramento, California. The event will bring together all 11 Big Ten squads plus eight invited institutions for two days (three sessions) of racing.Â
Saturday morning's action begins at 8:30 am, with races going off on eight-minute centers. Saturday afternoon's session begins at 2:40 pm, and Sunday at 8 am. Â

The Spartans have their third official racing weekend of the spring season, having previously raced at the Sarasota 2k and in a dual race at Eastern MichiganÂ
Michigan State's NCAA boats along with its second four will line up with Washington, Oregon State, Sacramento State and Wisconsin in the first session on Saturday. The Spartan 3V/novice eight will take on Washington, Indiana, and Wisconsin. Â
On Saturday afternoon, MSU's NCAA boats and 2V4 will face Washington State, USC, San Diego, and the Badgers. The third four will see Ohio State, USC, Minnesota, San Diego, and Wisconsin, while the novices will line up with Ohio State, USC, Minnesota and the Badgers. Â
In the final Sunday session, the NCAA group will get Indiana, Oregon State, Notre Dame, and Ohio State; the novices get Oregon State, Ohio State, and USC; the third four will take on Oregon State, Ohio State, Sacramento State, and USC. Â
All three sessions of racing, which begins on Saturday morning at 8:30 PT (11:30 am CT), will stream on B1G+,  Olympian Megan Kalmoe and Adrienne McConnell will call all the action. Â

Held annually since 2021, the B1G Invitational Regatta will be held for the first time on Lake Natoma in Nimbus Flat State Park in Sacramento. Lake Natoma and the Sacramento State Aquatic Center has hosted multiple NCAA Women's National Championship regattas, is the site for the upcoming 2026 IRA National Championships, as well as numerous men's and women's in-season and conference championship events.
This will be the sixth season that the Big Ten women's crews have joined forces to host the event. In 2026, The field consists of multiple nationally-ranked crews – the Big Ten alone boasts six schools in this week's Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) national poll:  No. 5 Washington, No. 12 Rutgers, No. 16 Ohio State, No. 17 Michigan, No. 20 UCLA, and No. 23 Indiana. Michigan State was among the eight Big Ten teams ranked in the preseason poll, (No. 20), along with Southern Cal (No. 23).Â
The invited crews who will line up against the Big Ten schools include No. 1 Stanford, No. 9 Cal, Gonzaga, Notre Dame, Washington State, Oregon State, Sacramento State, and San Diego.

This is the first of two weekends that all Big Ten teams will be in the same spot. The next will come at the Big Ten Championships on May 16-17 at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis.
Racing lineups for Michigan State will be posted late afternoon on Friday.
