Women’s Golf Wraps Up Big Ten Championships on Sunday

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team finished in eighth place among 18 teams at the Big Ten Championships, with the third and final round held on Sunday at Oakmont Country Club (par 70, 6,107-yards) in Glendale, Calif.
MSU shot a 26-over par 306 on Sunday and fell from fourth place to eighth, finishing the three-day, 54-hole tournament at 37-over par 877 (285-286, 306).
Southern California, ranked No. 2 in the country, led from start to finish and claimed the Big Ten title at 4-over par 844 (277-279-288). Ohio State finished in second place at 16-over par 856 (282-285-289), Purdue placed third at 23-over par 863 (284-283-296), Indiana was fifth at 32-over par 872 (292-285-295), with UCLA and Illinois tied for fifth place (33-over par 873).
Senior Taylor Kehoe shot a 3-over par 213 (71-68-74) to tie for fifth place, leading the Spartans. This was her sixth time leading the team this season. With her fifth place finish, Kehoe earned a spot on the All-Championship Team.
Freshman Sarisa Pojanalai and sophomore Grace Vetter both posted scores of 11-over par 221 to tie for 30th place. Pojanalai shot an 8-over par 78 on Sunday to finish at 221 (72-71-78), while Vetter tied for team low round at 5-over par 75 (72-74-75).
Freshman Lucia Valderrama closed with a 9-over par 79 on Sunday and tied for 42nd place at 14-over par 224 (70-75-79).
Senior Paula Balanzategui finished in 69th place at 21-over par 231 (78-73-80).
The Spartans next await the selection show for the NCAA Regionals, which will be held on Tuesday, April 28, with live coverage on The Golf Channel.
