Spartan continues to make program history.
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State men's tennis player Ozan Baris has been named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Third-Team Academic-All American, announced Wednesday.
The 2025-26 Academic All-America® Men's Tennis teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
This marks the third-consecutive year that Baris earned CSC Academic All-America accolades after being tabbed to the second-team list in 2025 and the first-team list in 2024.
Continuing to rewrite the Spartan men's tennis record book, Baris is the first player in MSU men's tennis program history to earn Academic All-America accolades in program history.
Baris is one of six players on the three-team list of a total of 18 players to be a multiple Academic All-America recipient, joining Jay Friend of Arizona, Sebastian Gorzny of Texas, Petar Jovanovic of Mississippi State and Michael Zheng of Columbia, who were all on the first team, and Kenta Miyoshi of Illinois, who was on the second team. Baris is the only three-time recipient on the 18-player list.
Additionally, to date, Baris is the third Michigan State student-athlete to garner CSC Academic All-America honors this academic year, joined by women's basketball player Grace VanSlooten and women's soccer player Maggie Illig.
A native of Okemos, Michigan, Baris graduated this spring with a 3.7 GPA, earning his degree in communication.
On the court, Baris earned the fourth ITA All-American award of his Spartan career, and is the only MSU men's tennis player to garner multiple All-American awards, earning the honors in 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026.
Baris helped Michigan State to a historic 2026 season winning both the Big Ten Conference regular season and tournament titles, for the first time since 1967. MSU finished No. 18 in the final ITA National Rankings, ending its historic season with a 19-9 overall record and a 12-1 B1G record, reeling off 10-straight wins to open league play, on the way to the regular-season B1G title and the top seed at the B1G Tournament. The Spartans outlasted Ohio State in a dramatic, 4-3, marathon match on the night of Saturday, April 25. After starting at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT, the match had several weather delays, and finished just before 3 a.m. ET, nearly seven hours after it began.
Michigan State qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the third-straight year, reaching the second round of the tournament for the second-straight season.
Baris finished No. 39 in the final individual rankings. He posted a 21-10 singles record this season, missing several weeks with an injury, but returning to action to help lead the Spartans to the B1G regular-season championship, clinching the title in the final regular-season match and his final home match at the MSU Indoor Tennis Center.
