CAREER NOTES: Won two-straight U23 National crowns, and won a bronze medal at the 2019 Junior Worlds in Greco-Roman ... Captured the 67 kg gold medal at the 2020 U23 Greco-Roman championships at Omaha, Nebraska ... Claimed the bronze medal at the 2019 Greco-Roman Junior World Championships in Tallinn, Estonia, to become the first Spartan wrestler to earn a World medal since Franklin Gomez’ silver medal at the 2011 World Championships in Istanbul ... Defeated Xin Huang of China in the bronze medal match, 6-5, jumping out to quick 4-0 lead and holding on to collect the bronze.
2021-22 (Redshirt Sophomore) 8-13 Overall, 2-9 Duals, 6-4 Open Tournaments: Won two matches by fall and one match by major decision … Made season debut at the Navy Classic going 4-0, winning tournament championship at the 149 weight class with wins by fall over American’s Jack Nies and Bucknell’s Kolby Depron, a win by major decision against Navy’s PJ Crane and a 9-8 decision over Kent State’s Kody Komara in the championship bout … Went 1-2 in the Southern Scuffle with a win by decision against The Citadel’s Dane Heberlien … Won by decision over Purdue’s Alec White, 5-2 … Won by decision over Maryland’s Michael North at the Big Ten Championships, 13-12.
2020-21 (Redshirt Freshman) 4-8 Overall, 3-4 Duals, 0-0 Extras: Earned MSU Athletics Honor Roll accolades ... Recipient of the Special Moment Award, coming from his standout performance in  MSU’s dual vs. No. 4 Michigan on Feb. 19, as a special tribute to his De La Salle High School and Greco-Roman coach, Mark Halvorson, who unexpectedly passed away the previous week, he upset No. 5 Kanen Storr of Michigan, 15-8 ... After the win, he collapsed on the mat in emotion, then celebrated, pointing up at his dad who traveled from California ... The Spartan used a frenzied start complete with two headlocks to open a 12-1 lead in the first period, as he scored a pair of takedowns and ensuing four-point nearfalls ... The 15 points was a new season-high for him and he had double-digit points in all three wins ... The 15 points were nearly twice as many as Storr’s previous high for points allowed against him, after an 8-1 loss on Feb. 12 ... The Spartan was unranked in four of the five rankings and No. 32 in TheOpenMat rankings at the time, upsetting the two-time All-American Storr, who was ranked in the top eight in all five rankings, including No. 5 in InterMat and TheOpenMat ... The emotional win was recognized by both NCAA Wrestling and USA Wrestling, and the Spartan was named the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week on Feb. 24 ... Finished the season with four wins on the season, ending with a 3-4 duals record, and was tied for second on the team with one major decision ... Opened season with 13-9 win over Michael North of Maryland in Maryland/Minnesota tri-meet on Jan. 16 in East Lansing, before a hard-fought loss to No. 19 Michael Blockhus of Minnesota later in the day  ... Battled No. 2 Sammy Sasso of Ohio State tough before a slim, 7-6, loss in the OSU dual in Columbus on Jan. 29 ... Registered a 14-4 major decision over Jonathan Moran of Indiana on Feb. 6 at the Indiana/Nebraska tri-meet at Bloomington, Ind., before a loss to Ridge Lovett of Nebraska ... Suffered a loss to No. 9 Griffin Parriott of Purdue on Feb. 12, but bounced back with dramatic win over Storr of Michigan to close out regular-season action ... Was the No. 9 seed at the B1G Championships, opening with a 9-6 upset of No. 8 seeded Mike Van Brill of Rutgers, before a loss to top-seeded, top-ranked and eventual B1G Champion Sammy Sasso of Ohio State, and was knocked off by Graham Rooks of Indiana ... Qualifying for his first NCAA Championships, was the No. 28 seed, being defeated by No. 5 seed Ridge Lovett of Nebraska, and then getting knocked off by Rooks again for the second time in as many postseason championships meets.Â
2019-20Â (Olympic Redshirt):Â Elected to take an Olympic Redshirt season to train for the 2020 Olympics ... Secured a bronze medal at the US Junior World Greco-Roman Championships at 67kg in Tallinn, Estonia in Aug. 2019.
2018-19 (Redshirt) 19-6 Overall, 0-0 Duals, 19-6 Open Tournaments: Won two matches by fall and five by tech fall ... Took second at the MSU Open ... Placed fourth at the Reno Tournament of Champions as an unattached wrestler ... Was first at the Alma Open.
Prior to MSU:Â Coached by Mark Halvorson at De la Salle ... three-time league champion, two-time section champion and two-time placer at State ... Fargo runner-up All-American in 2015 and runner-up in 2017 ... member of the 2016 Cadet World team.
