EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State University received the U.S. Tennis Court and Track Builder's Association's (USTC&TBA) highest honor for running tracks in 2003, as the newly renovated track and field hockey facility was named the USTC&TBA's 2003 Track Facility of the Year.
"Obviously this is a great honor," said Greg Ianni, Michigan State associate athletics director. "It was a great team effort involving a lot of groups on campus, including Campus Parks and Planning, Physical Plant and coaches and administrators from our athletics staff. It gives our field hockey and track and field programs just one more positive to sell to prospective student-athletes."
The facility was renovated during the summer of 2002 at a cost of $3.2 million. Improvements include a new track, the artificial turf field hockey field, lights, bleachers, a press box and storage space.
The USTC&TBA is recognized as the centralized source for information on tennis court, track and indoor sports facilities for builders, manufacturers, professionals and consumers.
