Ryan Weigand serves as the Associate Director of Development/Midwest U.S. in the Spartan Fund.
Weigand came to Michigan State University from Northern Arizona University, where he had served as the Director of Development for the Lumberjack Athletic Association since April 2013.
With Northern Arizona, Weigand and his team were responsible for reengineering the annual fund in support of student athlete scholarships for 15 NCAA teams. They increased annual fund productivity by 52%, scholarships by 122%, membership by 83% and average gift size by 42% during their tenure. He also was responsible for developing a staff giving campaign that achieved 100% athletic staff participation, provided leadership and organization to the Lumberjack Athletic Association Board of Directors, and managed a portfolio of 300 prospects.
While at Long Beach State, Weigand collaborated with the Assistant Athletics Director of Development and Senior Associate Athletics Directors of External Affairs to raise annual contributions in support of scholarship and operational needs for 19 NCAA teams. He was a member of the staff that increased annual fund revenue by 15%, membership by 21%, and Athletic Club member gifts by 42% during the 2012 fiscal year. He also created the Young 49er Club, served as a staff liaison to the Office of Gift Planning, and oversaw sport specific fundraising for five (5) teams.
Weigand graduated from the University of Virginia in 2008 with a degree in psychology. He was a punter and two-year letterwinner for the Virginia football team, earning second-team All-ACC honors after his senior season. He is married to Darcie who works for Meridian Township as a Parks and Recreation Specialist.
