Michigan State Softball Loses to Iowa at Big Ten Tournament
IOWA CITY, Iowa - After scoring three runs in the first inning, the Michigan State softball team was held scoreless for the rest of the game against Iowa Saturday at the Big Ten Tournament, and went on to lose 4-3.
Iowa pitcher Debbie Bilbao pitched all seven innings, allowing only six hits and striking out three. She also knocked in the winning run with a double in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Spartan pitcher Stefanie Noffsinger struck out nine, and scored an unearned run in the first inning. Spartans Stephanie Giroux and Stacey Smith each had two hits on the game.
With the game tied at three going into the bottom of the seventh inning, Iowa's Lee Twigg singled to left field. She advanced to second base on a sacrifice, and scored the winning run on Bilbao's double to left field.
