2023 (REDSHIRT-SOPHOMORE): Was a Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award Watch List honoree ... Topped the B1G in caught stealing by (20), seven more than the No. 2 spot ... At the plate, was just outside the top 10 in the league in several offensive categories, including tied for 16th in on-base percentage (.441), 20th in on-base + slugging pct (OPS) at .970, 22nd in batting average (.318) and 27th slugging percentage (.529) ... The Spartan catcher hit eight doubles, two triples and eight home runs, knocking 36 RBI and drawing 31 walks in playing in 47 games, starting 41 games at catcher and five games at third base ... Was fourth on MSU with 16 multiple-hit games, led by a season-high four hits vs. Western Illinois a day after his two HR outing (April 15), adding three hits in two other outings, finishing with at least one hit in 34 of the 47 games played ... Was the Spartans’ primary catcher all season, leading the B1G in caught stealing by nabbing 22 stolen base attempts, six more than the second spot ... In B1G only action, threw out 11 base stealing attempts, also leading the league and posting three more than the number two spot ... At the plate, hit .271 overall, ranking tied for fifth on the team, as well as fourth on the team in runs scored (31) and fifth in hits (48), along with third in hit by pitch (7) ... Played summer club league for Windy City Baseball, registering a .437 average with a .538 on-base percentage with 17 doubles and four home runs ... Chose Michigan State because had always dreamed of playing in the Big Ten and when took visit to MSU, was blown away with the campus environment and the baseball and athletic facilities, and while walking around campus, felt like home and could picture himself being a college student here.
