2020: Academic All-Big Ten Selection … Season was canceled due to Covid-19.
2019: Sat in the varsity eight boat for all six regattas … Had a season-best time of 6:29.17 in the finals of the Lake Wheeler Invitational on April 27 … Turned in a time of 6:36.54 in the morning heat at Lake Wheeler … Finished sixth at the Big Ten Championship regatta with a time of 6:35.124 … Opened the season with time of 6:37.9 and 6:44.48 at the Ivy League-Big Ten Double Dual … Varsity eight finished in 6:31.82 ad 6:52.36 at the Big Ten Double Dual on April 13 … Took third at the Dale England Cup with a time of 7:21.5 … Defeated Louisville on May 5 finishing with a time of 6:36.53.2018: Opened the season in the bow seat of the varsity four at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational, (3/17-18), defeating boats from Miami, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Clemson … Fell to both Harvard/Radcliffe and Yale in the Big Ten/Ivy League Double Dual (3/24) … Went up against stiff competition at the Pac-12 Challenge (3/31), racing in the third seat of the second varsity eight in races against USC, Cal, and Stanford … At the Big Ten Double Dual (4/6), fell to Iowa in the morning race before rebounding with a half-length win over Indiana in the afternoon in the second varsity eight … Raced at the Big Ten/ACC Challenge in the bow seat of the second varsity eight (4/21), defeating San Diego twice and downing Notre Dame, but falling to Duke … Raced to a seventh-place finish at the Big Ten Championships in the two seat of the varsity eight (5/12).
2017: Opened the season with strong performances at the Oak Ridge Cardinal in the novice eight, finishing a half-length behind Virginia in a time of 6:52.551 and defeating Notre Dame and West Virginia in the morning session and posting a heat victory in a time 6:58.975 with a 45-second margin over the Mountaineers and Tennessee in the afternoon (3/11) ... On Sunday at Oak Ridge (3/12), was less than a second off the pace of first-place Virginia (6:48.318) and defeated the Spartan 2N8 and Tennessee by several lengths of open water ... Rowed in a pair of novice eight races at Michigan (3/25), opening the day by finishing ahead of the host Wolverines and visiting Radcliffe in a time of 7:07.53, more than 11 seconds ahead of UM and 17 in front of Radcliffe ... Was second to Yale in the evening session, nine seconds behind the Bulldogs but still six seats ahead of Michigan in a time of 7:02.73 ...
Prior to MSU: Was homeschooled in Kalamazoo, Mich. until graduating high school and attending Kalamazoo Valley Community College for two years... Was a competitive gymnast her freshman year of high school at the state and regional level... Finished first in a group jazz dance competition and in an aero solo dance competition her senior year of high school... Was a member of Phi Kappa Theta at Kalamazoo Valley Community College.
Personal: Born August 7, 1998 in Kalamazoo, Michigan... Daughter of Todd and Jodi Carless... Sister to Emily and Maggie... Father, Todd Carless, rowed at the club level at MSU and graduated in 1985... Hobbies include snowboarding, water skiing and photography... Majoring in kinesiology and is an aspiring physician's assistant or CrossFit strength and conditioning coach.
