Michigan State women’s soccer coach Tom Saxton has announced the hiring of former Spartan Mary Fiebernitz as a volunteer assistant coach.

Fiebernitz is now the third former Michigan State player to join Saxton’s staff along with associate head coach Tammy Farnum and assistant coach Stacy DeLonge.

Fiebernitz was invited to and participated in the 2016 preseason camp with the Washington Spirit’s professional team in the NWSL. She also participated in the month long 2018 preseason camp with Sky Blue FC’s professional team in the NWSL.

The Linden, Michigan native, joins the Michigan State staff after serving as the boys’ associate head coach at Linden High School during the 2017 season. During 2016, she was a volunteer assistant at Michigan State working with the staff on practice plans.

Fiebernitz graduated with a degree in interdisciplinary studies in 2015. She was a three-time All-Big Ten honoree, including garnering first-team honors as a senior in 2015. Fiebernitz is a two-time captain who also captured NSCAA All-Region honors from 2013-15.
