Dan Scheid, Executive Director of Compliance/Eligibility, joined the Michigan State University athletics staff in summer 2019.
His main responsibilities include assessing the NCAA eligibility of incoming student-athletes and assisting in their admissions process as well as educating prospective student-athletes and their families on initial eligibility and admissions requirements. He is also responsible for updating and maintaining the NCAA Transfer Portal for the Athletic Department.
Previously, Scheid was the Assistant AD for Academics and Student-Athlete Support at Seattle University since 2017 where he had oversight of the academic success program for all 20 sports, continuing eligibility and transfer evaluations and was responsible for several NCAA reports. Scheid joined his previous institution as the Eligibility Coordinator and served in that role for two years before being promoted.
Prior to his time at Seattle University, Scheid worked in athletics compliance at the University of Northern Colorado as the Assistant Director of Compliance from 2011-2013. He was promoted to Director of Compliance in August 2013 until his departure in October 2015.
Originally from Fargo, North Dakota, Scheid graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology from his hometown North Dakota State University in 2003 and received his master's degree in education with a specialization in sport leadership and coaching from the University of Central Florida in May 2011, where he worked as a graduate assistant in the athletics compliance office during the 2010-11 academic year.
Scheid resides in East Lansing with his wife, Raina, and their daughters, Harper and Everleigh.
