Michael Walker joined the Spartan Fund in October 2023 as Associate AD/Senior Director of Development. Walker leads the major gift development team in securing transformational financial gifts for MSU Athletics.
Walker previously spent time at Ohio State, where he worked within the Buckeye Club as the Director of Development (December 2019-December 2022) and as Senior Director of Development (January 2023-September 2023). During his time at OSU, Walker successfully raised over $7.5 million in gifts for various athletic department priorities, led fundraising efforts for a $24 million lacrosse stadium, and was responsible for fundraising efforts in the East Coast region of the country.
Before his time at Ohio State, Walker worked at SMU in various roles, including as a development officer, director of the life skills department, and a member of the basketball staff.
Walker is a graduate of SMU, where he received his bachelor's degree of science in applied physiology and sports management, and master's degree in liberal studies, with an emphasis on organizational dynamics and high education. He was also a member and captain of the SMU men’s basketball team from 2007-2011.
