LouAnne Jefferson is a certified athletic trainer for Michigan State women's basketball and men’s golf. A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jefferson joined the Spartan Athletic Training Staff after two years as the head athletic trainer at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Jefferson is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers' Association, the Michigan Athletic Trainers’ Society. She is a volunteer for the American Red Cross as an instructor for certification in both lay and professional First Aid, CPR, and AED use.
She earned a bachelor's degree in athletic training/sports medicine from Purdue University and a master's degree in athletic training/sports medicine from Temple University.
Jefferson enjoys covering and serving as medical coordinator for a variety of large-scale athletic events. Annually she organizes on site medical coverage for the MHSAA Baseball, Basketball, Softball, and Soccer Championships and the Harlem Globetrotters. From 2005-2010 she was the Sports Medicine Crew Captain for the Michigan "3-Day"; a three-day, 60-mile walking event with 2,500 participants raising money to fund breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment. Also in 2013, she had the honor of serving as the Athletic Trainer with USA Basketball for the Gold Medal Women’s Basketball Team at the World University Games in Kazan, Russia.
