Women's Cross Country Second at Mel Brodt Invitational

East Lansing, Mich.-- The Michigan State women's cross country squad continued its early season success with a second-place finish at the Mel Brodt Invitational in Bowling Green, Ohio. The Spartansi team total of 51 points was second only to host school Bowling Greenis 27.
For the second consecutive week, junior Jen Denkins (Flushing, Mich.) was the top Spartan, finishing second overall with a career-best time of 18:05. Bowling Greenis Christine Thompson edged out Denkins for first-place honors (18:02). Spartan junior Leah Nilsson (Williamston, Mich.) joined Denkins in the top ten, finishing eighth (18:37).
The Spartans will return to action when they host the 1998 Spartan Invitational at Forest Akers Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich. on September 26.
