COMING UP:
The Spartan men's soccer team travels to Western Michigan (4-11-2) on Wednesday (Oct. 28) before closing out their home schedule on Sunday (Nov. 1) versus Wisconsin (2-14-1).
SPARTANS FALL TO NITTANY LIONS:
In their only action last week, the Spartans lost, 1-0, to No. 22- ranked Penn State. Junior goalkeeper T.J. Lieckfelt (Sterling Heights) recorded eight saves. He is now third in the Big Ten in saves with 58.
NOTES:
The Spartans are just 2-8 in their last 10 games...MSU is 14-2-7 all-time versus Western Michigan...the seven ties in the series with WMU are the most the Spartans have with any single opponent in their history...Michigan State trails the all-time series vs. Wisconsin, 4-12-3, but defeated the Badgers last season, 3-0...at Sunday's game, the Spartans will honor seniors Matt Shumlas (Fort Wayne, IN), Craig Myers (Eaton Rapids), James Whitmore (Ann Arbor), Jason Jaroch (Romeo), Matt Phillips (Chesterton, IN), Jeff Fliss (Plymouth), and Chris Slosar (Grand Blanc) - all playing in their last home game.
