COMING UP: The Spartan men's soccer team will host Valparaiso on Wednesday (Oct. 14) starting at 3:30 p.m. at Old College Field before venturing to the state of Ohio on Sunday (Oct. 18) for a contest against Bowling Green State University.
MSU RECAP: The Spartans dropped their sixth straight game on Sunday when it came out on the short end of a 5-0 verdict at Ohio State. The Buckeyes enjoyed a 13-4 edge in shot attempts against MSU. Earlier in the week, MSU dropped a 3-1 decision at Oakland University.
NOTES: Redshirt freshman Paul Vance (Flint) picked up his first career tally as he accounted for MSU's goal against Oakland Senior Matt Shumlas (Fort Wayne) made his first career start in goal against Ohio State and chalked up six saves MSU holds a 1-0 edge in the series against Valparaiso, capturing the initial meeting by a 2-1 margin last year The five goals allowed to Ohio State were the most surrendered by a Spartan team since the final game of 1993.
