East Lansing, MI - The Michigan State softball team will close out its fall exhibition season with a pair of home games on Sunday, Oct. 3. The Spartans, who advanced to the NCAA Regional Finals in 1999, will host Detroit and Wayne State at Old College Field.
MSU will play Detroit in a single game at 11 a.m., and will take on Wayne State at 3 p.m. The Titans and Tartars will play a single contest at 1 p.m.
The Spartans went 1-4 in their first exhibition tournament of the fall, Sept. 18-19. MSU lost to Central Michigan (2-1/5 innings), Western Michigan (2-1/5 innings) and Michigan twice (3-0/5 innings and 5-0), while defeating the Broncos, 8-0.
While the results were not positive, head coach Jacquie Joseph was pleased with the whole outing.
"The idea of the fall season is to see a lot of players and evaluate what you need to work on throughout the winter," Joseph said. "Overall, I'm pleased with what I saw. Our pitching looked better and I think we will have more depth than we did last season."
