Field Hockey Earns No. 6 Seed In Big Ten Tournament

East Lansing, Mich. - The Michigan State field hockey team (11-8, 2-4 Big Ten) will be the No. 6 seed in this weekend's Big Ten Tournament in Ann Arbor, Mich. MSU will battle No. 3 seed Iowa on Friday at noon. The Spartans defeated the Hawkeyes earlier this season at home, 2-1.
Michigan earned the top seed and a bye in the first round of the tournament after going undefeated in Big Ten play at 6-0. No. 2 seed Penn State will play No. 7 Indiana at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, while No. 4 Ohio State and No. 5 Northwestern meet at 2:00 p.m.
The winner of the Penn State-Indiana matchup will face either MSU or Iowa. Michigan plays the winner of Ohio State and Northwestern.
All games will be played at Phyllis Ocker Field on the campus of the University of Michigan. The championship game is on Sunday, Nov. 5, at 1 p.m., with the winner earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
