Men's Gymnastics Rebounds Against Illinois-Chicago

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The MSU men's gymnastics team beat Illinois-Chicago for the second time this week by a score of 229.075-222.475. It was the Spartan's highest team total of the season. The win brings the Spartans' record to 4-8.
The Spartans' David Ruiz (So., Oviedo, Fla.) and Tommy Housley (Jr., Jonesboro, Ga.) tied for first place in the floor exercise, with a 9.700. Ruiz also won the horizontal bar with a score of 9.800, his highest of the season.
Freshman Brad Golden (Orlando, Fla.) was the only gymnast to compete in the all-around competition, his 57.025 was his second best all-around score of the season. He also took second on the parallel bars, third on the horizontal bar and tied for second on the vault.
MSU swept the first four spots on the parallel bars, Sophomore Jonathan Plante (Easton, Pa.) was first (9.700), Golden took second (9.600) and Jamie Shepard (Fr., Dayton, Ohio) and Brady Grimm (Sr., Holland, Ohio) tied for third (9.350).
The Spartans will next be in action vs. the Iowa Hawkeyes and Illinois Fighting Illini Saturday, March 4. The meet will be held in Iowa City, Iowa.
