Purdue Defeats Women's Swimming, 128-115

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's swimming and diving team lost to the Purdue Boilermakers today in East Lansing. The Spartans dropped their record to 2-3 with the 128-115 loss.
Sophomore Kate Duncombe (Erie, Pa.) greatly aided the Spartan effort by placing first in the 200 IM (2:06.77), and the 200 back (2:03.63). Carly Weiden (Kentwood, Mich.) was also very influential in the one and three meter dives, placing first in both events. Other first place finishes include Ildiko Szekely (Budapest, Hungary) in the 200 fly with a time of 2:04.51, and Jutta Renner (Bilberach, Germany) in the 500 free with a time of 5:00.62.
Purdue's Gyongyver Lakos broke the McCaffree Pool record in the 200 free with a time of 1:51.04.
The Spartan women face Oakland next Saturday in East Lansing.
