SAN JOSE, Calif. - Michigan State head football coach Bobby Williams sent his team through a two-hour workout in full pads at West Valley College in Saratoga, Calif., Thursday afternoon as the Spartans (6-5) continue preparation for the Dec. 31 Silicon Valley Football Classic against No. 20 Fresno State (11-2).
"We had another good day of preparation," Coach Williams said. "We followed a Tuesday practice format so it included first- and second-down plays, short-yardage and goal-line situations. We also scrimmaged the first-team offense against the first-team defense and the second-team units against each other. I really liked the tempo and intensity during the scrimmages.
"We'll begin to scale things back after Friday's practice so the players get their legs back for the game."
The Spartans have practices scheduled for Friday and Saturday before conducting a final walk-through Sunday in San Jose State's Spartan Stadium.
Players and coaches from Michigan State and Fresno State attended a joint team breakfast at the Fairmont Hotel Thursday.
