Women's Golf Finishes Ninth at Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic

The Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic concluded its three-day invitational at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga. The No. 25 Michigan State women's golf team took ninth place with a final score of 315-312-319=946. No. 1 ranked Duke was the invitational champion, shooting 291-303-308=902.
Junior Emily Bastel (Upper Sandusky, Ohio) was the Spartan team leader, improving to 12th place from 21st on Saturday with a score of 77-76-75=228. Stacy Snider (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Kasey Gant (Fort Wayne, Ind.)tied for 39th place, with Snider shooting 77-78-84=239 and Gant firing 82-75-82=239.
Kalen Anderson of Duke won the invitational with a final score of 221 (74-74-73).
Out of the 18 teams competing at the Liz Murphey Classic, nine were ranked as the nation's top 25 programs in www.golfweek.com.
The Spartans tee off in Bloomington, Ind. for the Indiana Invitational April 7-8.
