EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State hockey coach Ron Mason has announced wing Adam Hall (Kalamazoo, Mich.) will serve as team captain for the 2001-02 campaign.
The senior-to-be was second on the team in goals and ranked third among MSU skaters in scoring with 18 markers and 12 assists for 30 points in 42 games during the 2000-01 season. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound forward paced the Spartans with two shorthanded goals and was third on the team with seven power-play tallies. Hall enters the season with 60 goals and 32 assists for 92 points in 118 career games for the Green and White.
"Adam is the consummate leader," said Mason. "His selection as captain is a near-unanimous choice of the players and coaches. He follows in the footsteps of (former captains) Tyler Harlton, Mike York, Shawn Horcoff and Rustyn Dolyny as leaders who not only command respect on the ice but in the locker room and in the classroom."
Hall served as one of two assistant captains on last year's Spartan squad. Assistant captains for the 2001-02 season will be named later this summer.
