ATTENDANCE - 74,232 - The game marks MSU's 24th-straight sellout. MSU has played before a sellout crowd in 32 of its last 37 home games.
SERIES - Today's game marked the 37th meeting between Michigan State and Minnesota. MSU holds a 23-14 lead in the all-time series, including a 13-5 advantage in games played in Spartan Stadium.
HOMECOMING - Today was the 87th Homecoming contest for the Spartans, as Michigan State owns a 56-28-3 mark in Homecoming games, including a 3-4 record vs. Minnesota.
MOVIN' ON UP - With his 229 passing yards, junior quarterback Jeff Smoker moved into third place on the MSU career passing list with 5537 yards, passing Bill Burke (5,463 yds.). He also moved into second place in school history in total offensive yardage with 5,435 yards. He stands just 121 yards behind MSU career leader Ed Smith (5,556 yds.). Smoker, however, failed to throw a touchdown pass vs. Minnesota, snapping a string of 14 straight games with a touchdown pass.
MOVIN' ON UP, PART II - With six receptions vs. the Gophers, junior wide receiver Charles Rogers moved into a tie for 12th place on the MSU career receptions list at 110. Scott Greene also had 110 career receptions for the Spartans. With 96 yards receiving vs. Minnesota, Rogers has 2331 yards for his career, just 16 behind Kirk Gibson for second place on the school career chart.
