Spartan Goalkeeper Robinson Named Defensive Player of the Week

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State men's soccer goalkeeper Tyler Robinson was named Defensive Player of the Week by the Big Ten Conference, Monday (Sept. 16). The Lansing native recorded back-to-back shutouts in a pair of Spartan victories last week in Amherst, Mass. In Friday's 3-0 win over Hartford, Robinson made 13 saves and in Sunday's 3-0 victory over Massachusetts, he made five saves.
College Soccer News.com also named Robinson to its National Team of the Week for his efforts. In four starts this season, Robinson, a senior, is undefeated with three shutouts and has a 0.25 goals against average. In fact, the lone goal scored against Robinson this season was an own goal by a Spartan defender in the IUPUI contest.
The Spartans return to action, Friday (Sept. 20), when they host Valparaiso at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday (Sept. 22) when they take on Indiana at 2:30 p.m. Both games are at Old College Field.
