Gymnastics Signs Two To National Letters of Intent

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State gymnastics coach Kathie Klages signed two gymnasts to National Letters of Intent for the 2005 season, she announced Wednesday. Amy MacDonald of Fowlerville, Mich., and Holly Weber of Bel Air, Md., will compete for the Spartans in 2005.
"These are two talented young women," said Klages. "The combination of the two will contribute to our program's goals to excel on the Big Ten and national levels."

Level 10 gymnast at Twistars Gymnastics... 2002 Level 9 National Champion... Qualified for Level 10 Nationals in her first time competing at that level... Placed fifth in the all-around at the 2003 Region 5 Championships... Placed 28th in the all-around at the Junior Olympic National Championships in 2003... Member of 2002 Who's Who Among American High School Students... Member of National Honor Society and SADD... Currently holds a 3.92 grade-point average... Plans to major in pre-medicine or chemistry.

Level 10 gymnast at Harford Gymnastics Training Center... Five-time Junior Olympics National Qualifier... Placed 15th in the all-around at the 2003 Junior Olympic Nationals competition... Placed second on vault and 10th on beam at 2003 Junior Olympic Nationals... Holds a 3.54 grade-point average... Active in community service, and volunteers at a local soup kitchen and nursing home... Coached by former Spartan gymnast Becky Robinson-Schaller... Plans to major in nursing.
