MSU To Honor Former Spartan Kristen Rasmussen

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's basketball team will honor former Spartan and current WNBA star Kristen Rasmussen at halftime of its game vs. Indiana Friday, Jan. 2, at 7 p.m.
Rasmussen is a three-time All-Big Ten selection who ranks first in MSU history in career rebounds (964) and blocked shots (194) and fourth in scoring (1,493). The Spartans posted a 69-50 record during her four-year career (1996-2000), including their lone Big Ten title in 1996-97.
Since leaving MSU, Rasmussen has enjoyed a four-year career in the WNBA, including stints with the Utah Starzz, Miami Sol and Indiana Fever. During the 2003 season, she started 25 games for Indiana, averaging a career-high 6.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists.
A reception for family and friends will also be held Friday after the game in the women's basketball office in the Berkowitz Complex
Also, preparations are underway for an alumni game featuring former Spartans vs. former players from Michigan. The game will take place in the Breslin Center immediately following MSU's 2 p.m. home game vs. Michigan Sunday, Jan. 18.
