North Florida Tops Spartan Baseball, 13-5

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - North Florida defeated the Michigan State baseball team, 13-5, Saturday night (March 8) at Harmon Stadium on the UNF campus. MSU is now 3-7 for the season, while the Ospreys improve to 13-6.
North Florida jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after the first two innings and never looked back, scoring 13 runs on 16 hits in the game. Spartan starter Tim Day (So., West Chester, Ohio) threw four innings and gave up 10 earned runs in the loss (1-2).
Spartan catcher Brady Burrill (Sr., Valencia) went 3-for-4 in the game and blasted a home run in the fourth. Brett Wattles (Sr., Rochester) and Alan Cattrysse (Fr., Chatham, Ontario) collected two hits each for MSU.
The Spartans trimmed UNF's lead to 5-3 heading into the last half of the fifth, but the Ospreys exploded for six runs in the bottom of the inning to put the game away.
Michigan State completes its spring trip with a single game against Eastern Illinois tomorrow (Sunday, March 9) at 11 a.m.
