EAST LANSING, Mich.- MSU women's track and field competes Friday, Jan. 16 at Central Michigan Invite in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. Field competition begins at 5 p.m., while track competition is set for a 6 p.m. start at the Jack Skoog Track Indoor Athletic Complex. The meet features teams from Central Michigan, Notre Dame and Western Michigan.
Head Coach Angela Goodman's Thoughts- "Things are looking bright for this Spartan team in 2004. We had high hopes last year, but ended up with a lot of injuries, which affected our team performance. This year everyone is relatively healthy and if that remains the same, then I know that our program is going to turn a big corner in every event. We have kids that want to be here and want to do well. If we work hard and stay healthy we have a good chance of scoring at the Big Ten level."
MSU returns one All-American and 13 letterwinners to the 2004 women's track and field squad. 2003 All-American and second team Academic All-American honoree Jamie Krzyminski (Sr., Corunna, Mich.) led the Spartans to a seventh-place finish at the 2003 Big Ten Outdoor Championships by winning the 5,000 meter run with at time of 16:30.52.
