EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State baseball coach Ted Mahan has announced signings of catcher Kyle Day (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Snider), right-handed pitcher Quinn Ewert (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake Central), infielder Johnny Lee (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) and infielder Derrick Mitchell (Paw Paw, Mich./Paw Paw) to National Letters of Intent to compete for the Spartans in the 2006 season on Friday (Nov. 19). All four student-athletes are honor students at their respective schools.
"We are excited about this group of student-athletes. I must use the word student with this group as all four have done a tremendous job in the classroom," said Mahan. "Our staff set out to sign a catcher, two infielders and a pitcher so we accomplished exactly what we were after. This group will certainly add to our current roster, providing us with great depth in 2006."
