MSU Game Notes
·Attendance: 72,908 - Today's game marks the 34th consecutive sellout at Spartan Stadium and the 42nd in the last 46 games.
·Michigan State is now 87-21 in home openers in its 108-year history, and has won six in a row. Each of MSU's last four home-opening wins has come against another school from the state of Michigan (Central Michigan - 2004, 2001; Western Michigan - 2003; Eastern Michigan - 2002).
·Michigan State now holds a 4-2 lead in the all-time series vs Central Michigan, and has won the last four games in the series.
·Michigan State is now 17-5 in games played against non-conference opponents since 1999.
·Michigan State is now 27-5 all-time against current members of the Mid-American Conference. The Spartans have won 11 straight and 18 of their last 20 against MAC teams, with the only two losses coming vs. Central Michigan.
·The following players made their Spartan debuts during today's game: Stephen Reaves, Jehuu Caulcrick, Tyrone McKenzie and Kellen Davis.
·Eric Knott had a 50-yard reception on MSU's first play from scrimmage. It was the second consecutive week Knott had a catch of 50 yards or more, as he hauled in a 54-yard score last Saturday at Rutgers.
·The 44-yard touchdown pass from Stephen Reaves to Kyle Brown late in the first quarter was the first touchdown pass of Reaves' career, and the fourth career touchdown reception for Brown.
·Kyle Brown set a new career high with six catches for 123 yards. His previous career high of four catches came on two occasions, and he broke that mark with his fifth catch early in the second quarter. It was his second career 100-yard receiving game.
·Michigan State is now 7-2 during the John L. Smith era when the Spartans score first.
·Michigan State held its second straight opponent scoreless in the first quarter.
·Jehuu Caulcrick had the first touchdown of his career in his first career game with a seven-yard burst with 12:03 remaining in the third quarter.
·Jerry Seymour's 90-yard touchdown run with 8:16 left in the third quarter tied the record for longest run by an MSU opponent and the longest run in Spartan Stadium. Frank Aschenbrenner of Great Lakes Naval had a 90-yard touchdown run vs. MSU at Spartan Stadium in 1945. It was also the first touchdown allowed by the MSU defense this season.
·Stephen Reaves completed 9-of-19 passes for 183 yards in his Spartan debut. Michigan State has won four of its last five games when an MSU quarterback makes the first start of his career (other winners: Jeff Smoker vs. Missouri Sept. 16, 2000; Ryan Van Dyke vs. Marshall Sept. 9, 2000; Bill Burke vs. Eastern Michigan Sept. 28, 1996).
·Brandon Fields averaged 55.3 yards on six punts. He averaged 46.0 yards in the opening game at Rutgers.

Jerry Seymour rushed for 164 yards on 26 carries (6.3 avg.) It marked the third-best rushing total of his career.
