Post-Game Quotes
Head coach Joanne P. McCallie
"Just a tough effort by our team. Beasty, very tough, physical. Everybody participated, whether they started or came off the bench. That was important for this game. Obviously Rene (Haynes) was a great source of energy. I thought Lindsay (Bowen) was being held all over the place and in my opinion she got mad, but she kept her composure and held herself very well. And I thought Kelli (Roehrig) had a solid game. I also thought we slowed (Janel) McCarville but I don't think we stopped her. She is a very, very good player. She didn't have too many assists, nor did she have too many great takes. She did get 15 rebounds and seemed to pull everything in. They are a very good team but we played hard, we played smart."
On the play of Lindsay Bowen in the second half... "We're always trying to get her coming off screens, so we're going to call plays or set things up for her definitely. But that is minor compared to the effort she put in to rub people off screens, or keep coming at the ball and being aggressive and finding her openings. Lindsay was much more aggressive in the second half; she really decided to try to attack at a higher level and it was evident and it wasn't easy because they were trying to stop her. She can be very persistent."
On the 39-point second half and the team's smart execution... "We've had other games where we've been this smart. I think we have played other games where I thought we were extraordinarily smart and executed, but in regards to the last game, there's just no comparison. We're looking to take advantage of doubles; we always take pride in that, when people try to double us as Minnesota tried to. At times it was sloppy and not right, and at times it was excellent. The attack mode in the second half is something we have to unleash for a 40-minute period, because the team really was on another level in the second half."
