Quotes
MSU Head Coach Rick Comley
On being unable to find a game-winning goal...
"I thought we got back to a lot of the things we do well. The puck was just at their goal line for what seemed like long, long shifts, but we just couldn't get it by the goaltender. Hats off to them for getting a point on the road, and it should be a real tough game tomorrow."
On his team's play...
"I know we were sharp, but we didn't play as well as we were or the way we can. We worked really hard and dominated for stretches, but it is like possession in football. We had the puck an awful lot, but Daniel Bellissimo made saves on three or four breakaways in the third period."
Western Michigan Head Coach Jim Culhane
On the night's game...
"I thought it was a well-played game by both teams. Both teams played hard and there were a lot of great saves at both ends of the rink. It was a hard-fought point for both teams.
David Booth
On returning to the lineup...
"It felt good. I've played two games since last February, so it's been a while. It feels good, it's just going to take a while to be at the top of my game. Each game is going to help me get better."
On the team's reaction to the tie...
"You never feel good when you allow the tying goal with four minutes left, but we did come back from a two-goal deficit and I thought we played well. You've got to win those games; you can't accept tying."
Chris Mueller
On the missed opportunities in the third period...
"My line especially had a couple breakaways and (Bellissimo) made some great saves, but I think maybe we were over anxious, trying to make one too many moves. I think next game we've just got to let the puck rip at them; throw the puck at the net and let good things happen, so hopefully the puck will find the back of the net tomorrow."
On his line's performance...
"It was a good night for my line finally. In the last week or two, our line hasn't been on track and we haven't been working as hard as we worked last year. This whole week we just said we have to pick it up for our teammates, because they're working hard and we're not. We're supposed to be one of our top lines and we're not producing. So finally we got on the right track and started working hard like last year. We just had a great game."
Drew Miller
On the importance of his line's contributions...
"It's definitely important. We hadn't been playing our best game the last four to six games, but I think tonight we played how we're supposed to play and the way our line is expected to play. We got chances and we got goals, and that's what we're supposed to do. A tie's not good enough tonight, so I think we need to be better tomorrow night as a line. We can't be satisfied with what we did tonight. We played well, but it wasn't good enough, so we have to get better."
On the missed opportunities...
"It's definitely disappointing not getting the win. We had so many positives, and I think we outplayed them. We came back strong from two goals down, there are just little mistakes that we have to stop making. I think we'll learn from it and be better tomorrow night."
