Lisa Senakiewich Claims One-Mile Run Championship At Tyson Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - With the professional portion of the Tyson Invitational coming to a close Friday, Michigan State's women's track and field team competed in plenty of events Saturday, Feb. 12, at the University of Arkansas. Freshman Lisa Senakiewich brought home a first-place title in the championship race of the one-mile run for the Spartans as State posted many top-10 finishes on the day.
Senakiewich used a time of 4:52.93 to secure first-place in the championship one-mile run with teammate and freshman Nicole Bush, placing fifth (4:56.58). Meanwhile, junior Taren James took second and freshman Etienne Chaplin 10th in the unseeded long jump. In the pole vault championship, junior Mickie Rzepka locked up fourth while sophomore Michelle Rossio finished in 10th place in the shot put championship. James completed the field events, earning seventh in the triple jump championship.
Junior Megan Radermacher's time of 2:13.26 was good enough for eighth in the unseeded 800-meter run and soon after, sophomores Caitlin Kelly and Michelle Rafferty placed seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 5000-meter run championship. In the 3000-meter run championship, freshman Danette Doetzel captured ninth with a time of 9:40.11.
Up next for the Spartans will be the Big Ten Indoor Championships at the University of Michigan Feb. 26-27.
