EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's golf team is set to host the Central District Classic this Monday-Tuesday (Feb. 21-22) at the River Wilderness Country Club in Parrish, Fla. The 15-team tournament tees off with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. each day, as the tournament will consist of 54 total holes of play with 36 on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday.
Teams scheduled to compete include: Arkansas, Baylor, Indiana, Kansas State, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Southern Methodist, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.
Last year, LSU walked away with 2004 Central District team crown after posting a three-round 903 (295-298-310). Individually, Christa Spedding of Texas A&M claimed medalist honors with a 220 (76-72-72). Spedding was in a three-way tie for first with Malinda Johnson (Wisconsin) and Brooke Tull (TCU), but won the individual title based on her low final round.

This week will mark State's second tournament of the spring season as the Spartans finished 15th at the Northrop Grumman Invitational in Palos Verdes, Calif., Feb.7-9. Brown led the Spartans at the Northrop Grumman, finishing tied for 42nd with a three-round 233.
The Central District Classic will feature live-scoring throughout the tournament that can be found at www.golfstat.com or at MSU's website, www.msuspartans.com.
