EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State baseball banquet, hosted by the MSU Bullpen Club, will take place on Monday, May 23 at the Michigan Athletic Club and Banquet Center. Former Spartan standout Jerry Sutton (1962-64) will receive the program's Distinguished Alumnus of the Year award. The banquet begins at 5 p.m., with dinner starting at 6:15 p.m.

Sutton earned three letters as a starter at first base for legendary Spartan skipper John Kobs and finished his career with the second-highest batting average in school history. The Lansing, Mich., native captured two MSU batting titles, earned first-team All-Big Ten honors in 1963 and was named the team's Most Valuable Offensive Player in 1964. After completing his MSU career, he was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the Major League Baseball Draft, and played in the minor leagues for five seasons.
Sutton joins Kobs, Danny Litwhiler and Robin Roberts as recipients of the award since its inception in 2002.
