Michigan State vs. Wayne State
Post-Game Quotes
Michigan State head coach Rick Comley Opening statement...
"Obviously it was a much needed sweep. You want (the team) to leave feeling like they've accomplished something and they're building on something. Wayne State is a tough team to play against. They're not pretty, they do what they can do, and in the third period, both nights, I thought they tried to play a little bit more. I was encouraged by the fact that they got back into the game, and we came back and put the game away."
On the play of goalie Jeff Lerg...
"In the third period last night he had to make a couple saves and didn't see much action at some times tonight, but then had to make some big saves again, so he did a good job."
On the team's ability to put the game away...
"Once they got their goal, we took a couple bad penalties. When you're fragile, you get frustrated easily, and I thought we really got frustrated at that point in the second period. Taking the bench penalty really hurt them."
Wayne State Head Coach Bill Wilkinson
Opening statement...
"I thought tonight we played with a lot of intensity. We couldn't capitalize on some of the mistakes Michigan State made, and they didn't make many."
On the difference in MSU between now and October...
"I thought they were a little better. They've got a little more polish now, they're stronger coming out of the corners, and certainly the power play was very effective tonight."
SO D Daniel Vukovic
On the improvements in his game...
"This year I'm playing with a lot more confidence. I've had some good pairings and I've been getting more time on the ice. When you play more, your confidence grows."
FR F Nick Sucharski
On his new found scoring touch...
"I felt good out there. The puck kept going my way and the guys on my line, Chris Lawrence and Daniel Sturges, worked really hard."
On playing on the fourth line...
"All those guys on the fourth line work really hard. We switch (in the lineup) all the time so everybody gets a chance to play. Tonight we had countless chances - we just had trouble capitalizing."
SR F David Booth
On the frustration of being injured...
"Being injured the past three years has been frustrating. The big thing for me is just to stay healthy, and hopefully the injuries will go by the wayside."
JR Captain Drew Miller
On MSU's non-conference play...
"I think our non-conference play this year has been solid. Going back into league play, it's a big positive for us to get the two wins."
On playing three games in a week coming up...
"It's going to be a tough stretch, but I think that going through it earlier this season was a learning experience for us, and now we know how to approach this."
