
Michigan State Men's Tennis Still Alive In Regional Championship

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State men's tennis is still in the action at the Midwest Regional Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich, as sophomore Nick Rinks won yet another singles competition to advance to the semifinals. He is now one of only four singles players left in the competition with the last two standing earning a spot in the 2005 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, which Ohio State will host Nov. 3-6.
Rinks, seeded at No. 21, entered the quarterfinals today fresh off a 6-4, 6-2 victory over the No. 8 seeded Jose Orozco of Western Michigan. In quarterfinal action he then faced Nic Edlefesen of Minnesota and suffered a first set loss, 1-6, but battled back to win in three sets, 1-6, 6-4, 6-2. This places Rinks in the semifinals where he will go up against Stephan Bass of Notre Dame who is seeded at No. 3.
Rinks will finish play tomorrow as the tournament will come to a close with the semifinal and final matches determining who will go on the National Championships.
