
Spartans Remain Perfect with 5-1 Win Over RedHawks

Jantine Steinmetz scored twice in the final five minutes of the first half, while Kathryn Elenz-Martin scored two goals in the second half of the team's win.
Steinmetz, a freshman, picked up the first two goals of her collegiate career and the only two MSU needed to get the win. She scored her first goal at 30:50 by using her backhand to knock a bouncing ball into the right corner and put her team on the board. Her second tally came after Angela Pagura put a ball in front from the top of the arc and Steinmetz was able to tip it in for a 2-0 Spartan lead at the half.

The Spartans dominated with a 10-0 shot advantage in the first half and 19-3 for the game. Elenz-Martin put MSU up 3-0 after she converted a feed from Jeamie Deacon at 39:55.
The Spartans restored their three-goal cushion on a penalty corner. Becky Manning passed to the top of the arc where Amy Schneider set the table for Deacon's third goal of the season. Elenz-Martin capped the scoring at 67:42, on a goal assisted by Michelle Ciliberti.
Megan Stengel had nine saves in the game for the RedHawks in taking her first loss of the season, while Elissa Unger earned her third straight win with a two-save effort for the Spartans.
