BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Michigan State senior Ryan Brehm fired a bogey-free two-under par 70 in the second round of the Shoal Creek Intercollegiate in Birmingham, Ala., finishing with an opening day total of even par 144 (74-70). Brehm is currently tied for eighth place, three shots behind North Florida's Chris Kennedy. The Spartans finished the first day of competition in 10th place out of 12 teams with a two round total of 598 (+22; 302-296). Texas Tech leads the tournament at two-over par 578 (293-285). The third and final round will begin Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. EDT.
Michigan State's Randy Hutchison (76-75--151) and Jack Newman (75-76--151) are both tied for 30th. Graham Baillargeon (77-78--155) is tied for 48th and Steve Cuzzort (82-75--157) stands in a tie for 56th.
