FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Michigan State senior Nicole Bush finished in sixth place with a time of 9:13.48, in the 3000m run at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by the University of Arkansas on Saturday night. Susan Kuijken from Florida State took top honors in the event, finishing with a time of 8:58.14. Bush finishes among the nation's top 10 in her second event this weekend, also placing fourth in the 5000m run on Friday night.
"Nicole just had a phenomenal race tonight," said MSU Director of Track & Field Walt Drenth. "Nobody that finished in front of her tonight ran in the 5000m last night. So for her to come out and race the way she did, after her performance last night is just amazing. My hat goes off to Nicole, I couldn't be more proud of her."
Coming in behind Kuijken was North Carolina's Brie Felnagle (2nd-9:00.31), Stanford's Arriane Lambie (3rd-9:05.41), Stanford's Lauren Centrowitz (4th-9:11.09) and Boston University Marisa Ryan (5th-9:12.83).
Michigan State begins its outdoor season on Friday, March 28. The Spartans will send representatives from the track & field teams to the Auburn Invitational, in Auburn, Ala., and the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif.
