Coach Slobodnik-Stoll on Stacy (Snider) Olson
EAST LANSING, Mich. - Former Spartan Stacy (Snider) Olson has been named a volunteer assistant coach, MSU head women's golf coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll announced earlier this week. Olson was a two-time All-Big Ten selection (2001-02) and owns the seventh-lowest career average in Spartan history with a 77.43. A Grand Rapids, Mich., native, Olson played on the Futures Tour following her career at Michigan State.
"We're thrilled to have Stacy be associated with the program again," said Slobodnik-Stoll. "She's won every major tournament in Michigan, she's played on the Futures Tour, and she's played in the LPGA. One of the things we're trying to do at Michigan State is be a breeding ground for the LPGA, which we're doing a pretty good job of right now. Just having Stacy's perspective of knowing what she's gone through, it's really going to help our players that want to play on the tour. It's another dimension we can bring to the student athletes, and the more we can bring to them, the better we're going to be overall."
The No. 24 Michigan State women's golf team opens its season this weekend (Sept. 20-21) by hosting the Mary Fossum Invitational at Forest Akers West Golf Course.
