EAST LANSING, Mich. - Former Spartan soccer player Greg Janicki was signed to a developmental contract by the D.C. United of the MLS earlier this week. Janicki joins D.C. from the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the United Soccer League's Second Division.
"We're extremely happy for him," said MSU head coach Joe Baum. "Greg had an outstanding career here at MSU. He is very skillful for a big defender. I hope he can keep furthering his career toward his goal of being a professional soccer player."
A two-year starter at MSU, Janicki garnered First Team All-Big Ten and Second Team All-Great Lakes Region honors as a senior in 2006.
Janicki is the fifth Spartan to join the MLS since 2005.
