• Nebraska now leads the all-time series against Michigan State, 6-0, including a 4-0 record in games played in Lincoln, Neb.
• The loss snapped MSU's six-game winning streak in Big Ten play, dating back to last year's loss at Iowa.
• William Gholston led all players with a career-high 15 tackles . . . it matched a single-game high for a Spartan this season (Max Bullough 15 tackles vs. Youngstown State) . . . Gholston's previous career high was six tackles against Youngstown State in the season opener . . . Gholston also had 1.5 tackles for loss (7 yards) and one sack (5 yards) against the Huskers; he has 8.5 tackles for loss (28 yards) this season and 2.5 sacks (17 yards).
• Marcus Rush recorded career highs in tackles (11) and tackles for loss (2.5 for 4 yards) . . . Rush now has 7.0 TFLs this season (33 yards) . . . Rush also broke up a pass, marking his second pass break-up of the season.
• Sophomore linebacker Kyler Elsworth recorded a career-high 10 tackles.
• Johnny Adams recorded his sixth career interception and first of the season in the second quarter and returned it 25 yards, setting up a 28-yard Dan Conroy field goal.
• Michigan State held Nebraska to a season low 270 yards of total offense; the Huskers' previous low was 335 yards against Wisconsin . . . Nebraska came into the game averaging 432.7 yards of total offense per game.
• The Spartans held Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez to a season-low 23 yards rushing; Martinez came into the game averaging 90.9 ypg.
• Sophomore Le'Veon Bell led MSU with 58 yards rushing and crossed the 1,000-yard mark for his career . . . Bell now has 1,037 career rushing yards on 194 carries (5.3 avg.) in 21 career games . . . Bell also made his first career start against the Huskers.
• Dan Conroy connected on a 28-yard field goal in the second quarter, moving him into a tie for ninth place all-time at MSU, along with Bill Stoyanovich, with 22 career field goals.
• B.J. Cunningham had his streak of 41 consecutive games with a reception come to an end on Saturday; it marks the first time Cunningham didn't make a catch in a game since Sept. 13, 2008, against Florida Atlantic . . . it also marks just the second game in Cunningham's career he didn't have a reception.
• Michigan State recorded a season-low 86 yards passing on 11-for-27 attempts . . . it marks the first time MSU has been held under 100 yards passing since throwing for 88 yards against Florida Atlantic on Sept. 13, 2008 . . . it marks the fewest passing yards for a Spartan team since Nov. 20, 1999 vs. Penn State (80 yards).
• Kirk Cousins completed 11-of-27 passes for 86 yards and one interception . . . the 86 yards passing by Cousins were the fewest of his career as a starter.
• The Spartans also recorded season lows in total offense (187 yards) and first downs (12).
• The three points scored by MSU were the fewest since it only scored three against Nebraska in the 2003 Alamo Bowl.
• Nebraska converted on 7-of-15 (47 percent) third-down conversions, while the Spartans were just 3-of-14 (21 percent).
• Michigan State allowed a season-high four sacks for the second straight game.
