No. 53 Men's Tennis falls to Wisconsin, 4-3

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's tennis team fell in its second match of the weekend as the Wisconsin Badgers upended the Spartans, 4-3. MSU fell in two of three doubles matches, gaining all three points in singles action. The No. 53 Spartans are now 13-6 in dual matches and 0-5 in conference play.
Freshman Aaron Pfister and junior Austin Brooks earned the lone doubles victory for the Green and White, defeating Satral and Martin, 8-3, in the No. 2 position. Seniors Jason Norville and John Stratton were defeated by Michalicka and Bertha in the No. 1 position, 8-3. In the No. 3 spot, junior Mat Nelson and senior Clark Richardson fell to Carey and Ask, 9-8 (3).
In singles play, Pfister kept his perfect singles record in dual matches intact, taking down Martin, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6(4), in the No. 4 position. Brooks earned the second singles victory for the Spartans, defeating Satral, 5-7, 7-6(2), 10-8, at the No. 3 slot. Freshman Drew Lied earned the final point, taking down Ask in the No. 6 position in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
Sophomore Denis Bogatov was defeated in the No. 1 position by Michalicka, 6-0, 6-3, while junior Ron Hulewicz fell to Bertha in the No. 2 slot, 0-6, 6-0, 6-4. Senior John Stratton was defeated by Carey in the No. 5 position, 6-0, 6-3.
The Spartans travel to Kalamazoo, Mich., to take on Western Michigan in a mid-week match on Wednesday, April 6 at 3 p.m. MSU then continues conference action with weekend matches against Ohio State on Friday, April 8 at 3 p.m., and Penn State on Sunday, April 10 at 12 p.m.
