Aerial Powers Suffers Season-Ending Injury

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's basketball freshman Aerial Powers will miss the 2012-13 season, after tearing the Achilles tendon in her left ankle in practice on Friday, Oct. 26. Powers is scheduled to have surgery this week and the typical recovery time in 4-6 months.
Powers, who was slated to start this season, was a top-100 national recruit out of Detroit Country Day. She was a two-time Associated Press Class B Player of the Year, and a three-time all-state selection. As a senior, the 6-0 guard averaged 20.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 3.0 steals and 3.1 blocks per game, while shooting over 54% from the field and 37% from 3-point range.
